Starlaw

Terms of use

Last updated: 1 October 2026 · Effective: 1 October 2026

These terms are a contract between you and Okan Demir, the developer of Starlaw. They cover the Starlaw game for iOS and Android (the “app”), the game servers behind it, and the website at playstarlaw.com (together, the “service”). In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Okan Demir.

By creating an account, including a guest account, or by using the service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

At a glance

1. Who can play

  1. You must be at least 13 years old. In the EEA and the UK, if you are under 16 (or a lower age set by your country), you also need permission from a parent or guardian.
  2. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must read and accept these terms for you, and is responsible for your purchases.
  3. You may not use the service if you are barred from doing so under the laws that apply to you, or if we have closed an account of yours before for breaking these terms.

2. Your account

  1. Guest accounts. You can play without giving us your name or email. A guest account is tied to an identifier on your device. If you lose the device or reset it before linking a sign-in method, we cannot recover the account.
  2. Linked accounts. You can link Apple, Google or an email address to keep your account across devices. Keep access to that sign-in method secure. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
  3. One player, one account. Your account is personal. You may not sell, rent, share, transfer or buy accounts, and you may not run several accounts to gain an advantage over other players.
  4. Deleting your account. You can delete your account in the app at any time. Deletion is permanent. It erases your ship, progress, crystals and in-game items, and they cannot be restored. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription. Cancel it first (section 7.3).

3. Your licence to use Starlaw

  1. The app is licensed, not sold, to you. We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download, install and use the app for your own non-commercial entertainment, on devices you own or control, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from.
  2. On iOS, you may use the app on any Apple-branded product you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, including Family Sharing where it applies.
  3. On Android, the licence also covers the rights Google Play requires us to grant in its Developer Distribution Agreement.
  4. All rights we do not expressly grant to you are reserved.

4. Starlaw is a live multiplayer game

  1. Player-versus-player. Other players can attack, damage and destroy your ship, take cargo and loot, and compete with you for planets, routes and resources. Losing a ship or its cargo to another player, under the game’s rules, is gameplay. We do not restore it.
  2. The game changes. We may change, rebalance, add or remove any part of the game at any time: formulas, prices, rewards, items, maps, levels, features, and the value or usefulness of in-game items and currencies. We do this to keep the game fair and fun, and it is not grounds for a refund.
  3. Resets. We may reset or correct game data, including balances and progress, to fix bugs, undo exploits, or reverse gains made by breaking these terms.
  4. Availability. The game needs an internet connection and our servers. We aim to keep it running, but we do not promise it will always be available, error-free or without interruption. We may pause it for maintenance.
  5. Ending the game. We may stop running Starlaw. If we do, we will give at least 60 days’ notice in the app, stop selling subscriptions and crystals, and stop renewing subscriptions.

5. Rules of conduct

You agree not to:

  1. Cheat. No modified clients, bots, scripts, macros, automation, or tools that read or change the game’s memory or network traffic. No exploiting bugs: report them to us instead.
  2. Attack the service. No hacking, reverse-engineering, decompiling or disassembling the app (except where the law expressly allows it), no scraping, no overloading or disrupting our servers, and no getting around security, rate limits or bans.
  3. Trade outside the game. No selling, buying or trading accounts, crystals, in-game money, items or services for real money or anything of value outside the game.
  4. Abuse other players. No harassment, threats, hate speech, sexual content, discrimination, doxxing or sharing other people’s personal information, impersonation (of players, us, or anyone else), spam, scams or advertising.
  5. Use offensive names. Ship names and planet names are seen by everyone. They must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, misleading, or infringe anyone’s rights.
  6. Break the law. No illegal activity, and nothing that infringes another person’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights.

You can block players in chat. To report a player, message or name, contact us (section 16).

6. Your content

  1. What counts. “Your content” means the ship names, planet names, chat messages, feedback and support messages you submit.
  2. Licence to us. You keep ownership of your content. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, copy, display and transmit it, only as needed to run, show and improve the service. A planet name stays on the map as part of the shared world for as long as the game runs; chat messages are erased when you delete your account, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  3. Your responsibility. You confirm you have the right to submit your content and that it follows section 5.
  4. Moderation. We may review, reject, edit or remove any content, at any time, and without notice, if we believe it breaks these terms or the law. Planet names are reviewed before or after they appear. If a paid planet name is rejected, the crystals spent on it are returned.
  5. Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, without paying you or crediting you.

7. Subscriptions

  1. What you get. Starlaw offers monthly subscription tiers. The app shows what each tier includes and its price, in your local currency, before you buy. Today, subscriptions increase income from PvE activities (cargo, NPC kills, scrap, trade ships) and unlock convenience and cosmetic features, such as a longer route queue, long routes and cockpit themes. They never increase ship stats or PvP loot.

  2. Automatic renewal. A subscription is billed by Apple or Google to your store account when you confirm the purchase. It renews automatically every month at the then-current price unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.

  3. Cancelling. You cancel through the store, not inside Starlaw:

    • iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Starlaw → Cancel Subscription.
    • Android: Google Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Starlaw → Cancel subscription.

After you cancel, you keep the subscription’s benefits until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.

  4. Upgrades and downgrades. Switching between tiers is handled by the store, under its rules for subscription groups.

  5. Price changes. We may change subscription prices. The store notifies you in advance and, where the law or store rules require it, asks for your consent before you pay the new price. If you do not agree, cancel before the change takes effect.

  6. Restoring. If you reinstall the app or change devices on the same platform, use “Restore purchases” in the app while signed in to the same store account. A subscription bought on one platform stays tied to that store until it ends.

  7. Benefits end when a subscription lapses, is refunded or charged back. In-game money earned during the subscription stays, unless it is reversed under section 8.5.

8. Crystals and other virtual items

  1. What they are. Crystals are Starlaw’s premium virtual currency. You can earn them by playing (for example, by levelling up) or buy them in packs. You spend them on cosmetic and naming unlocks, such as ship styles and colours, cockpit themes, renames and planet names. In-game money, cargo, items, ships and stations are earned only by playing.
  2. A licence, not property. Crystals, in-game money and every other virtual item are a limited licence to use a feature of the game. They have no monetary value, are not your property, and are not a bank balance, deposit, or stored-value account.
  3. No cash-out or transfer. Virtual items cannot be redeemed for real money or goods, refunded (except as section 9 or the law requires), transferred to another account, or used outside the game.
  4. Delivery. Purchased crystals are added to your account once Apple or Google confirms the payment. If they do not arrive, use “Restore purchases” or contact us with your store receipt.
  5. Reversals. If a purchase is refunded, charged back or cancelled, or if virtual items were gained through a bug, an exploit, or by breaking these terms, we may remove the related items, including any already spent, and the balance may become negative.
  6. Losing them. Unused crystals and items are lost if your account is deleted or closed under section 12, or if we stop running the game under section 4.5. If we end the game, we will stop selling crystals at least 60 days before.

9. Payments and refunds

  1. Store billing. All purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and are subject to their terms. We never see your card or payment details. Prices include or exclude taxes as the store shows them.
  2. Refunds are handled by the store.
    • Apple: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides refunds under its own policy.
    • Google Play: within 48 hours of purchase, request a refund in Google Play. After 48 hours, contact us at hello@playstarlaw.com and we will review it under Google Play’s refund policies and applicable law.
  3. Our policy. Except where the law or the store’s policy says otherwise, purchases are final once crystals or subscription benefits have been delivered. We will always fix a purchase that failed to deliver.
  4. EU, UK and Turkish right of withdrawal. For digital content and services supplied immediately, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw. When you buy crystals or a subscription, you ask us to deliver them right away, and you agree that you lose your right of withdrawal once delivery starts. This does not affect your rights if the content is faulty or not as described.
  5. Chargebacks. If you start a chargeback instead of asking the store for a refund, we may suspend the account while it is resolved.

10. Our intellectual property

Starlaw, its name and logo, the app’s code, artwork, ships, maps, music, sounds, text, designs and game mechanics belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. These terms give you no right to use them except to play the game. You may share screenshots and videos of your own gameplay for non-commercial purposes, as long as you do not suggest we endorse you.

If you believe something in Starlaw infringes your copyright or other rights, email hello@playstarlaw.com with: your contact details; what the work is; where it appears in Starlaw; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you own the right or are authorised to act for the owner. We will review it and remove infringing content where appropriate.

11. Third-party services

The service relies on third parties, including Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Mixpanel and Firebase, as described in the Privacy Policy. Your use of the stores, your sign-in provider, and your mobile carrier or internet provider is governed by their own terms, which you must follow. We are not responsible for third-party services, and links to third-party sites do not mean we endorse them.

12. Suspension and termination

  1. By you. You can stop playing at any time, and delete your account in the app.
  2. By us. If you break these terms or the law, or put other players or the service at risk, we may, in proportion to what happened: warn you; remove content; reset or reverse progress, items or balances; restrict features such as chat; temporarily suspend your account; or permanently close it. In serious cases, such as cheating, fraud or threats, we may act without warning.
  3. Telling you why. Where possible, we will tell you what we did and why. If you think we got it wrong, email hello@playstarlaw.com and we will review it.
  4. What happens. When your account is closed, your licence ends and you lose access to your account, progress and virtual items. You are not entitled to a refund for a closure caused by your breach of these terms, except where the law requires it. Sections 6.2, 6.5, 8.2, 8.3, 10 and 13 to 18 survive.

13. Disclaimer

To the extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that game data will never be lost, and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights in the EU, UK and Turkey to digital content that conforms to the contract.

14. Limitation of liability

  1. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for the loss of virtual items, progress or data, except where caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
  2. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50.
  3. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

15. Indemnity

If you break these terms or the law while using the service, and a third party brings a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows. This does not apply if you are a consumer in a country whose law does not permit it.

16. Contact and support

Starlaw is developed and run by Okan Demir, an individual developer.

We aim to answer within 3 business days.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect, and ask you to accept the new terms before you keep playing. If you do not agree, you can stop playing and delete your account, and cancel any subscription. Changes do not apply to disputes that arose before they took effect.

18. Governing law and disputes

  1. Talk to us first. Most problems can be solved by email. Please contact hello@playstarlaw.com before starting any legal claim, and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.
  2. Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
  3. Courts. The courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul (Çağlayan) have jurisdiction.
  4. Consumers keep their local rights. If you are a consumer, this choice of law and courts does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can also bring a claim in the courts of that country. Consumers in Turkey may apply to the Consumer Arbitration Committees or Consumer Courts. Consumers in the EU can also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.

19. App store terms

19.1 Apple

If you got the app from the Apple App Store:

  1. Acknowledgement. These terms are between you and us only, not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content. These terms cannot give you usage rules that conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions in force when you accept them.
  2. Scope of licence. Your licence is limited to a non-transferable licence to use the app on any Apple-branded product that you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. The app may also be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
  3. Maintenance and support. We are solely responsible for maintenance and support of the app (section 16). Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for it.
  4. Warranty. We are solely responsible for any product warranties, express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses due to a failure to conform to a warranty are our sole responsibility.
  5. Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation. These terms do not limit our liability to you beyond what applicable law permits.
  6. Intellectual property rights. If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of it infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  7. Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a US Government embargo, or that has been designated by the US Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  8. Developer name and contact. Okan Demir, hello@playstarlaw.com (section 16). Send any questions, complaints or claims about the app there.
  9. Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app, such as your wireless data service agreement.
  10. Third-party beneficiary. You and we acknowledge and agree that Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and that, once you accept these terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

19.2 Google Play

If you got the app from Google Play, these terms are solely between you and us. Google is not responsible for them and has no liability under them. If these terms conflict with the Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement, the Developer Distribution Agreement takes precedence to the extent of the conflict. You must also follow the Google Play Terms of Service.

20. General

  1. Export and sanctions. You may not use the service where the law forbids it, including under US, EU, UK or Turkish sanctions or export controls.
  2. Entire agreement. These terms, the Privacy Policy, and any rules shown in the app make up the whole agreement between you and us about the service.
  3. Severability. If a court finds any part of these terms invalid or unenforceable, that part is limited or removed only as much as needed, and the rest stays in force.
  4. No waiver. If we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
  5. Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours, for example if the game is sold, as long as your rights are not reduced.
  6. Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages of hosting, store or network providers, natural disasters, or acts of government.
  7. Language. These terms are written in English. If we provide a translation and they conflict, the English version applies, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
  8. Notices. We may give you notices in the app or by email if you linked one. You can send notices to us at hello@playstarlaw.com.
